Ep. 10 | Yafeuh Balogun: Intergenerational Activism and Community-Building in Dallas
"I don't care about folks' background. I don't care if I disagree with you. But I know we got some common ground."
Episode 10
In this episode, I talk to Yafeuh Balogun, coordinator for Community Movement Builders of DFW. CMB is a black member-based collective of community residents and activists serving black working-class and poor black communities.
Yafeuh reveals how strategic community organizing, successful renaming of city streets, and building coalitions are creating lasting change. If you're tired of endless protests that lead nowhere and want real solutions that empower communities, this episode is your blueprint.
Here is actually my favorite part of the interview. It occurred at the end, when he expressed that he’s not big on protests and just wants to bring about solutions, something I absolutely relate to. He mentions freedom for Rakem Balogun, the ongoing effort of renaming parts of Lamar Street to Botham Jean Boulevard, and the historically classist divisions that govern Dallas to this day, particularly with Interstate 30.
Also, follow him on Facebook and buy his memoir.
Thank you, Yafeuh!
